Hovercraft Construction
This hovercraft has a double skin hull with Kevlar and aluminium
impact zones and runners, and excellent floatation properties.
Very stable craft providing a vantage point for standing in the
craft for search and rescue in reed beds. Very easy for rescue,
with the side of craft providing easy access for body recovery,
with two men rescuing a third body. Total payload for water starts
are 250 kilo or 550 pounds for craft with the 52HP engine, for
land-to-land start, up to 400 kilos or 800 pounds. The 65HP engine
will lift 330 kilos on water, or 727 pounds. (Some small hovercraft have
difficulty starting on water)
This hovercraft is very easy to tow
Rescue organisations have told us that large commercial hovercraft
have required very expensive transporters and police escorts to get
to emergency situations along narrow roads! Needless to say,
emergency rescue situations require fast response. The Work Pod
trailer allows the hovercraft to be loaded by one man in under 2 minutes.
